Manastash is a high-style, casual outdoor Japanese clothing brand that was originally founded in 1993 in Seattle, Washington (USA) by Robert Jungmann (who would later go on to found pioneering hemp clothing brand Jungmaven). They are now based out of Tokyo, Japan and produce outdoor-oriented streetwear/fashion apparel that is both fashionable and functional. They are named after a ridge of mountains in the Cascade Mountains that begins in British Columbia, Canada and extends down to northern California, and were founded to promote environmental stewardship. They were one of the first brands to fully utilize environmentally sustainable fabrics in the modern era, and are well known for their development and use of hemp in their clothing as well as other sustainable fabrics such as recycled fleece, Pertex, eVEnt, and Pimaloft. All of the fabrics used in their garments were developed specificially for them with their manufacturers. "Functional, stylish and earth-friendly clothing based on the free wheeling lifestyle."
